"I just received my copy of Leadership Without Excuses. For a business book, it reads fast and is filled with examples and strategies. I like when a book tells me why I should do something, but too many times authors leave me hanging and tell me how to do what is is they shay I should do. The good news here is that this book delivers both on the "Why" and the "How To." If I get one idea from a book, then it is worth the price and the time I take to read it. This book has many ideas. Highly recommended!

Leadership Without Excuses How to Create Accountability and HighPerformance Instead of Just Talking About It eBook Jeff Grimshaw Gregg Baron Reviews
- great book for all managers
- Great concepts.
- This was by far one of the worst books I have ever read. The author should be ashamed of himself with his writing style and demeanor towards the reader. This should have been entitled, "Beat your personnel into submission and never take no for an answer". Ashamed that I have this book in my collection now.
- Average
- The book is outstanding. Just enjoyed reading because it was easy to read, to the point, and explained leadership without excuses.
- I purchased this book with a clear goal Manage my employees better. I was looking for simple solutions and easy to follow processes that would help me manage my employees better, hold them accountable for their actions, and provide them with empowerment in finding solutions for our department.
The book jacket indicated that this book would help me do those things

What I found was something different. This book was mostly examples of how leading companies manage specific situations. The book was full of examples from other companies about how to live the company vision.
While these stories are interesting and impressive, the book lacked in the implementation of ideas or how to bring those successful experiences into your own department/business or world.
If you are looking for how others do it. This book might be for you. If you are lookinf for how to do it. I recommending looking somewhere else.
(At the same time I purchased this book, I also purchased "How Did That Happen? Holding People Accountable for Results the Positive, Principled Way by Roger Connors and Tom Smith, which seems to have a more direct approach. - In running my own businesses for about 15 years I have always had a hard time firing key employees. I always give them the benefit of the doubt when in my heart I know there is some dishonesty. I have found that dishonesty seems to accompany poor performance.
Leadership Without Excuses gave me the courage to proceed with terminating a manager whom I once was grooming to succeed me. It was hard, as I knew his family and went to his wedding. But, in my heart I knew he was continually lying and not letting his team reach its potential.
I read the book and knew I had an incorrigible Sinner. That sealed it. I then proceeded to document my case and now that he is gone a weight has been released from my shoulders. He has been replaced with a much stronger internal promotion. The whole team is happier and I sleep better.
I recommend this book to leaders who have been too soft, compassionate or vague to make hard decisions or pronouncements. - I just received my copy of Leadership Without Excuses.
